SATURN & WILE E. COYOTE

December 7, 2013

Last Saturday I was reminded of a certain cartoon....Pretty much everyone is familiar with the Road Runner cartoon and Wile E. Coyote. He just kept chasing the Road Runner on every episode and went over countless cliffs, flattened by rocks, exploded by his own contraptions....whatever he tried to do catch the Road Runner always backfired!

This is a great metaphor of a difficult Saturn transit. It seems that the MORE we try to catch our “personal Road Runner” the more we learn the lessons of “gravity” as it relates to our karmas and the planet Saturn in our birthchart.

I recently have had a lot of astrological readings for people with significant planets on the Aries/Libra axis (sidereal). Saturn (the planet of karma and ruler of Capricorn and Aquarius) and Rahu (you can read more about Rahu here) have been on this axis since January of 2013.

And these two planets are literally stirring the pot and creating in some instances dramatic life changes and new opportunities.

During the past year we have also had solar and lunar eclipses in these two signs and aspects from Mars and transits of some other planets, too.

And we are not out of the woods yet....there are some significantly challenging transits that will be occurring in 2014 on this same axis. For more info read the next article posted on this blog.

Before we explore this transit, I would like to explain more about the aspects from Saturn and how they can manifest in your relationships, career, health and family.

The strongest of the Saturn aspects are to 3rd and 10th houses away from his transit or natal location - so right now by transit Saturn is fully aspecting the signs Sagittarius and Leo.  The next strongest aspect is 7th from his position which would be to Aries.  Saturn does not own any of these houses and his glance will be felt strongly if you have planets in any of these signs: Sagittarius, Aries and Leo. Each aspect from Saturn/Shani carries a different kind of energy and karmic lesson.

As taught by to my Jyotish guru Souvik Dutta, and founder of Ancient Indian Astrology Classes, the 10th aspect of Shani checks karma, morality, ethics, and the 3rd aspect checks our desires or expectations. So once we lose our desire or expectations around the specific house/planet that Saturn is aspecting and if we retain our morality, ethics etc...around the house that receives the 10th aspect, our karmic experience of transits of Saturn can potentially be minimized. And therefore our mental suffering - or our lesson in gravity/karma while chasing after the elusive Road Runner!

Depending upon your own chart this will affect a specific area or areas of your lives. The intention of Vedic Astrology is not to create fear around these transits but to shine light in the dark corners of our lives and give us information and tools to enable you to make the better informed decisions, at the best possible times.

My next blog entry will be about the upcoming challenging transit of Mars, Rahu and Saturn in Libra/Virgo in 2024 , so if you would like to learn more please sign up for my newsletter here.
